Southern Utah Juniper

In Southern Utah Juniper, called ceder by the locals, is abundant. This image is an imagined one of a gnarled old juniper showing scars of a lightning strike or wildfire standing alone on a desert ridge.

This painting is plaster on hardboard painted over with acrylic. The depth of the work is about 1 inch allowing for a rich 3 dimensionality that brings the work to life. Unfortunately a photograph doesn't fully do justice to the piece.
