Sunset On High

This painting was an experiment. In ancient Greece and Rome, artists used plaster on walls to create frescoes. Sometimes pigment was mixed into the plaster as it was spread and built up on the walls to create beautiful scenes. Sometimes it was only painted on the surface or mixed into the surface layer of plaster. Here I attempted to use this ancient technique with modern materials to create a painting with physical depth.
